Welcome to the Marengo Christian Church web site, and allow us to introduce ourselves.  First let us say that it is our most fervent effort is to be the most ordinary church around, that is if your definition of ordinary is adherent to the Biblical model and nothing else.  At MCC we have put much energy into paring away all extra-Biblical tradition, hierarchy, and ceremony to reveal the Church of Christ in its simplistic glory.

We hold to no traditions of men, are eminently comfortable with political incorrectness, and enjoy the harmony and peace that only happens when Christ is the head of the church.  Our view of Biblical interpretation is that the Bible needs no interpretation, it simply says what it means and means what it says, and as such is useful to today's Christian, and moreover the Church itself, as written.  From Genesis to the Revelation, it is our only book, no book of discipline, no commentary written of man, and no dogma.  Leadership is aligned with the New Testament example with Ministers in Word (Preachers) Shepherding Ministers (Elders) and Ministers over physical needs (Deacons).  All are equal in authority with their own specific duties, serving together, to edify the Body of Christ.  We have no formal membership procedure, if you join us, and are in Christ, you are one of us.

The Marengo Christian Church is an autonomous body of believers with no denominational conference or any such thing; this allows us to move more quickly to meet the needs of a growing congregation, and focuses our allegiance to Our Lord, His Word, and His people.  When you join us to worship you will find only those things common to a worship service in the early Church, a few hymns, the Lords supper, an offering, a Bible based sermon, and an invitation .  We have no rock band, although we have no real problem with it, we have no floor show, and we do not expect you to show up in a $1000 Italian suit.  All the sacred cows of religion have been slaughtered, simple Christianity remains, with "no book but the Bible and no creed but Christ".
